Government & Economics
This Government and Economics course, taught from a Biblical worldview, explores the principles of American government and economic systems with an emphasis on individual liberty, constitutional limits on power, and free-market economics. Students examine the structure and purpose of the U.S. government, the Constitution, federalism, and the civic rights and responsibilities of citizens in a constitutional republic.
The economics portion of the course introduces core concepts such as supply and demand, prices, competition, entrepreneurship, and economic incentives. Drawing from classical liberal and conservative free-market thinkers— leaning towards Hayek—students study how decentralized markets transmit information, coordinate economic activity, and promote innovation and prosperity. The course contrasts free-market systems with central planning and government intervention, encouraging students to evaluate the benefits and limitations of each approach.
