British Literature
This course in British Literature engages students in the careful reading and critical analysis of literary texts while providing a historical perspective on the major periods of British literary development. Through close study of selected complex works by both classic and modern authors, students deepen their understanding of how writers use language to create meaning and aesthetic pleasure. Through biblical integration, students are further guided to discern deeper meaning, evaluate ideas thoughtfully, and consider how literature reflects and shapes views of truth, morality, and the human experience.
The interpretation and evaluation of literature through a variety of written and oral responses are central to the course, fostering students’ confidence in communicating clearly and effectively while developing their individual voices.
Throughout the course, students strengthen essential skills in speaking, writing, listening, and critical reading that will support them in daily life and any future academic endeavors.
